Topic: We're having our stairs redone 2

Mr. Rape has been here working the last 2 days.  They're beginning to shape up.  That dork who was here was using the cheapest thing possible.  Do you guys know what the skirt board is on the stairs?  He was supposed to get  MDF board because I had talked to a man at Lowe's who said it worked the best but he bought and put up knotty pine which is a lot cheaper.  He had painted it and I kept wondering why stuff was showing through and it's the knots.  What a creep.

i'm so glad that mr. rape is taking care of it for you.  he sounds like a nice guy who really cares about his good name and reputation.

but slooooooow as Christmas.  He works alone and so far it looks really good but he's so slow.  And, he doesn't work in the rain because he does everything outside so as not to mess up, which I appreciate, but with this weather it's gonna be a while.  I'm not complaining though.

I sure hope Mr. Rape comes today.  He has to be outside and it's so dreary and sort of rainy.

I haven't taken any pictures lately but Johnny said Mr. Rape was pulling in as he was pulling out.  Yippee.

I didn't take any pictures tonight.  For some reason he tore out and replaced a door frame we had mentioned we want done "sometime in the future" instead of working on the stairs.  He called and we talked about it, sort of, but I still don't know for sure why he did that instead of the stairs.  I do know he's not coming tomorrow because it's supposed to rain.

I'm not sure how old he is but he isn't young.  He gave us a quote with references.  The woodwork I've seen so far is beautiful.  Because the last creep messeed up the sheetrock Mr. Rape has cut some fancy wood pieces to go on the sides of the stairs so we wouldn't have to pull everything out.  He did them by hand because the store bought stuff was the wrong size due to the sheetrock mess and they're beautiful.  It wasn't raining yesterday but he did say that the bathroom door jam would be the worst job in the entire house so I'm thinking he wanted it out of the way.  I wanted it done but I was thinking "eventually".  Johnny said he thinks Mr. Rape is just slow and precise so I'm not worried yet.  He asked me if I wanted him to come today and I left it up to him.  He said he wouldn't, due to the weather, because he doesn't like to start something then have to change his plan and there just isn't enough pre-cutting he can do inside to stay on plan.  Set in his ways a little is my opinion but then again so am I.

After I got home today Mr. Rape showed up to drop off some wood for a few more door jams.  He says he's going to work on the stairs tomorrow but Johnny brought one of his guys home a little while ago and he's doing a little work on them right now.  One way or the other these stairs are getting done.

Here is a picture of the door jam that Mr. Rape has replaced and is working on.




This is a picture, blurry picture, of some of the mess the jerk left.




I didn't want decorative, twirly things on the wall but the only way to cover this mess is to put these things that Mr. Rape over it.

Here is the baseboard that Mr. Rape had to replace.  Creep man cut it too short and tried to make it to the end of the wall with edging pieces.  It was all pieced up.




here are the stairs with the wrought iron foot and top things not yet down because the stain is still wet.
