Links to traditional foods diet

I am not a doctor, nor a nutritionist. I do not play one on TV. I didn't even stay at a holiday inn last night.
This is something I have chosen to do for myself and my family. I have noticed and liked the changes brought about in myself by changing what I eat. I encourage you to do your own research.
Here's the basic question I ask myself: "Would my great grandmother recognize this as food?" If not...why am I eating it?

No problem. I'll add more as I find them...I'm subscribed to most sites so the new posts are emailed to me...I don't have the links saved to the laptop.

I don't mean to overwhelm anyone. I've been doing this for well over two years, and I'm nowhere near as advanced as some of these people.
It's all about baby steps.

Cool, I already use real butter for everything and full fat milk (or even half and half). I have found I eat less and feel better after wards. I eat beans (where does Beano fall into your list of do's and don'ts?). I just have issues with yogurt. It has an aftertaste that ruins my mouth for a while.
And yolks are the very best parts of the eggs. I don't think I have ever used eggbeaters or anything.

I prefer butter and whole milk and we the whole egg here as well. I need to use beans more often and I am going to try the plain yogurt and add to it. I have been on a yogurt kick lately but it is the flavored ones.

Tina, yogurt and I hade a hate/hate relationship for a loooong time. It's only been in the past two years I have been able to eat it...and I probably still couldn't eat it plain. Mostly, I make a smoothie for breakfast...homemade yogurt, a handful of oatmeal, two or three of fruit, a cup of orange juice and a cup of ice. Something about adding the oj makes it okay.
I've never looked into beano...
And I've noticed I eat less now, and feel full longer.
Triss, do they sell Nancy's yogurt up there?

It's one of my favorites. It's made here in town, and they are very careful about their milk sources and what they add. Even the orgainc vanilla one has only good sweeteners, like agave.

You should also try a tiny container of greek yogurt, if you can find it. It's thicker...I prefer it.

My goodness, I have been following your links then going to where they lead me to other links and I am afraid to eat the stuff I have here in my house. But it is all interesting and i like that I am doing some things right.

Ok I added that as well... I have never heard of Greek yogurt.
Tina, it is scary some of the things we put into our bodies.

I felt the same way...but then I just started with what I could. And changed what I could as I used up what I had.
I will say that I have troubles with grains...them and me don't get along. I get heartburn, bloated feeling, and sluggish...but when I make an honest effort to "soak" the grains first, I have no trouble. However, because I am not always on the ball, it only happens about 25% of the time.
Making out a meal plan in advance helps...but I have to actually DO it.

It is more scary the things our bodies do with those things we add to it.
I began being interested in natural foods and real foods when my older kids were small. Not enough to convert fully away from twinkies but to study what my best alternatives were amongst what was available and affordable. And I don't always read labels as I should.

I've been known to purposefully NOT read labels on some things I love. Once I do, I can't eat them...goodbye funyuns and sour cream and cheddar ruffles.

Yes, while I was posting that last post about labels I was eating a Nestle's ice cream sandwich and did NOT read the label on purpose.

I understand all too well.
It's easier now to find good foods than it was two years ago...either they are making better foods, or I'm learning where to look. Maybe a little of both.

Wow, thanks for all the links Sarah, looks like some reading to do over the weekend.
We eat alot of grains here, whole wheat bread, brown rice, breads with flax seed, or loaded with grains, and yogurt, we go through alot of that.

Sarah, why did you start doing this? Just curious.
I know when I eat right or should I say a little bit right I do feel better.
I don't eat egg yokes though. I scrambled egg whites so I'm backwards on that one.
And I can't do yogurt. I buy it, put it in the frig, then throw it out after it expires. I can't get by the consistency or the fact that it reminds me of snot. I've never been able to get it to my mouth to even taste it. A friend gave me some Greek yogurt and I couldn't even try it.
I have always used real butter but I use Lactaid no fat milk for my Rice Krispies. I think I read on your list that Rice Krispies is a perfect food.
Thanks for the lists. I AM going to try and do better but you have to help me.

Is it plain yogurt that you are trying Sheri, or do you buy flavored.

Penny, I've bought every kind because I've been buying it for years. With fruit, without fruit, with fruit on the bottom, fat free, low fat, 5 for $5.00, 2 for $6.00, it's the way it looks. I can't get past the way it looks.

Wear a blindfold, Sheri...
Very interesting links, Sarah.
I got "lost" in one of them awhile ago...
