Flowering shrub ideas

Marton wants to plan forsythia along the neighbor fence.  :razberry:  Yah I like the flowers, but..... everyone has the stuff... booooooring.
So I said why dont we put a bunch of different flowering shrubs along the fence so all year something is blooming.! :idea1:
so
HELP
I prefer natives.
Any ideas?

I'm with Marton.  I like forsythia.  Sometimes it's really yellow and sometimes not so yellow.  The flowers don't last long though BUT it's pest free and never, ever seems to die of natural causes.   How's that for a good plant.

i don't know if indian hawthorn and lorapetlum is hardy for you, but i like both of them.

I forgot to mention it has to be deer proof. (yah, I know another point for Marton :giggle: ) I have some non-native holly. The deer feast on it in summer and the voles, I think, feast on it in winter. Bonnie I love my liilacs!. The whole piece of property behind my house is a jungle of Lilacs!
I'll have to google those Jenn.

Lilac would be great if they grow well for you.  I have lorapetlum and love them.
