Vinyl Windows
« on: Apr 24, 2010, 10:11:30 AM »
I don't know if it is because they are storm windows or what.  But they are on the inside wall and they are attached with nuts with hexagonal heads.  It's about as unattractive as one could wish.  They stick out about 1/4 inch from the wall.

Now I'm thinking I would like to have a nice picture frame molding around the windows and maybe a ledge at the bottom like most traditional homes have.  Something I have to dust and can put knick knacks on.  What would work in this case?

I'm thinking a channel down the center of the molding to acommidate the nuts?  And then finishing names at the outside edge where the molding overlaps the wallboard?  Would the molding lay flat?  Could I put a finishing nail through the vinyl to hold the molding in place?  Would I be compromising the window if I did that?

Help?
