I finished up Angel Fall's and cried as well... stayed up until after midnight to finish it.  Started in on her book Summer Island.

Summer Island was good.  Started a little slower than the others of hers that I read.

I like her style too. They are interesting books but an easy enough read too.  I don't care to read books that I have to try to decipher what they are really saying.

I know exactly what you mean.  That or people who write and have to make up crazy long names for people and places that one cannot even pronounce.

Just finished up Summer Island by Kristin Hannah... a tear jerker but what a wonderful story.

Next up for me is Distant Shores, also by Kristin Hannah.

That one is not available at our library which is a bummer.

I'm surprised.  It is a best seller.  It is set in Paris so some of the names are hard to read but once I got past that it was a very good book.

I imagine it is not available because the books they had have been lost.  Her 2nd book is on order.

I finished up Distant Shores.  It was a really good book and I have been reading it every spare moment I had over the last couple of days.  I cannot wait to start in on her next one.

I think you will like it.  Started Between Sisters today but only got a page into it before I slept.

I just finished Virals by Kathy Reichs, it's written for teens but then that's about my speed.  I enjoyed it.

My book club is discussing Their Eyes Were Watching God tonight.  I don't recommend it.

Hope this doesn't sound terrible but it's a story (however real) that's been done to death.  It's about a black woman who marries young because her grandmother doesn't want her pregnant out of wedlock like every other woman in the family, how's she's mistreated by her man, who is mistreated by the whites but in the end we're left to believe that she overcomes being black in the south.  Plus it's written in southern black language which even for me is hard to decipher.  I'm not saying it's a story that didn't need to be written.

I think it was a movie a few years ago with Halle Berry in it.

Sorry you had a book you did not like Sheri.

I have been on a reading blast lately... I finished up 2 more Kirsten Hannah books and also a Nora Roberts book.  Started another Hannah book today.

Finished up a fantasy today.  Very light reading on the devil/angle/gardian theme.  The Book is called Black Wings and is by Christina Henry and it leaves the story hanging.  I hope there is a sequel out there because I hate being left without the story having a good ending.

Well I didnt like the book but we met at a members house and I did like that.  She just turned 99 and is so interesting to talk too.  Last night she was telling us all about what happened at Pearl Harbor.  It's so different hearing first hand than reading it from a history book.  Unfortunately she's been diagnosed with breast cancer and is going to let it take it's course.

I think at the age of 99, I would too.

I think at the age of 99, I would too.
when my grandmother was in her 80s she gave up mammograms.  she said "at my age, i'm not going to go through anything like that to fight it.  back when i was a kid, women just died.  and at my age, if i die, so what?  i don't like them and i'm not doing it."  so she didn't.  she didn't die of breast cancer, but i knew she was done with the fight.  and her age, she was old enough to decide for herself!
