Topic: Where's the Swap?

I'm all geared up for our swap this year.  Are we doing it?  I have plenty of wonderful seeds to trade and I'm getting more in daily.

Yes, Sarah (barleychown) runs it in the winter. I don't remember many details.

Thank you, Jim. I remembered that Sarah got them out to people around Valentine's day but not much beyond that.

Well I should still have some zinnia, chives, strawflowers, celosia, and orange blackberry lilies left to trade by then.  But I've got to say most of my trade seeds will be gone.  Who knows what the other exchanges will bring in that don't fit my garden.  It could still be a nice array of seeds I guess.

I will be hosting it again this year. Seeds should be sent to me no later than Janurary 31, and they go out by February 15. When I first started this swap, it was with the intent that it be one of the last swaps of the winter, sort of a "spring is coming!" thing to look forward to.

If you are worried about not having enough seeds, Tammy.....why not send some to Sarah now, mine will be going out soon as well.....and then you wont have any worries.

Well since it is so late I might as well wait until the other exchanges come in.  Like I said I have so many seeds I may end up with a lot of duplicates or things that don't match my zone and those can all go in the swap.  I'll be sending in more bonus seeds like last year.  I really don't need a one for one return lol.  I still have more seeds than I could ever plant.

I got my first swaps seeds in so there are only 2 more out.  Of this one I'd say about 3/5ths were seeds that I'll be sending to our swap here.  I hate to say that people are not putting information on their seed packets. 

I think I will try to look up each seeds growing information and see if I can do better.  Then I'll put their packets in my packets.  I do that because they are trades and some people just can not be trusted to send what they are suppose to.  I hope that doesn't apply to any of these seeds.

Anyway it's a good start with 32 varieties of seeds to begin with.

Ok, so far I have 81 packets of seeds to send in and as I mentioned there are two more swaps that I'm waiting on.  So I'll be able to contribute.  I was worried there for awhile.

Ok I'm up to 88 packets.  So I'm speeding right along.  But, I have a question.  I have different types of zinnia.  If I want to send it multiple packets am I limited to 10 zinnia no matter what variety, or 10 packets of each variety?

The frost zapped my 4 o'clocks. Going to see if theres any good seds out there.

I don't have any 4 o'clocks.  I'm really stuck in the short flower arena.  I don't know why they appeal to me more but they sure do.

I love four o'clocks but they haven't done well for me the last couple of years.  I think it's been too hot and dry.  Wrennie, I'll check and see if I have seeds and send them to you if I find them.

I would think that as long as the zinnia's are different, then it should be fine to send in more then 10, but check with Sarah anyway, just in case.

I'll do that.  So far I have 121 seed packets to send in.  And I've got my box about half way filled.  So I have a ways to go yet.  My wish list isn't nearly as long as it's been in the past so there should be bunches and bunches of bonus seeds.  Should give us a pretty good selection.

The count is 133 packets and I had to go to the store for more scotch tape to do it lol.  It's the wrong time of year to run out of scotch tape.

I really need to get going on my seeds, i have to mail off a couple packages for some other swaps.....so maybe I'll do mine then.

I'm almost finished sorting what I currently have.  I'm in the "S's".  Then all I need to do is wait for the other exchanges to come in and sort through them.  lol.  Or until the box gets full because that's getting close too.

I used to have everything sorted, alphabetically.....not anymore, which i do need to fix.

Tammy is soooooo organized.  All my seeds are put in a big container and a couple of times a year I go through and see what's there.  If you asked me today I'd have to say I don't know for sure but I think I've got ........I'm organized about a lot of things but not about gardening.

I have 2 file folders, and one is for veggies and one is for flowers, and a box that i throw everything into when someone does a trade with me(until i sort it), and there seems to be an awful lot in the box, and not in the folders.

It is very OK not to be hyper organized in at least one area. Gardening as a hobby should be a relaxing place to go in your mind. If you stress about it all too much you are defeating some of your own purpose.
