Hello all!!

I have a fish tank that is about i dont know 15 plus years old hasnt had fish in it for about 10 years and i want to get it up and running again. What can i clean it with that wont hurt fish when i put in it? It has some green on the glue that holds the glass together..prob isnt glue but you get the idea.

Can i use bleach? Soap? Vinegar? Any one that could hlep with this i would appreciate it! Want to get it all set up this weekend so was hoping to clean it the next few days!

have you tried Algae Pads/Scrapers?

I've used a light bleach soolution, then rinse & rinse & rinse again to be sure its all gone. Dry it to get rid of residue then add water.

I finally found some info online not sure if it is true/ It said to use salt and vinager and a bucket never used before and fish scrubby pads from the store. lol

Ask at the store where you're going to get your fish.

Its been about 9 years since i last had fish tanks but I cleaned mine with Comet.  Never had a problem.   Just rinse well.

did vinegar and salt.. worked great.. also learned that with tropical that i need to make sure i do ALL my research before i start. Would of saved me alot of money and time and frustrating lol

THanks it has been a work in progress have had two of the 3 we have gone bad one twice one once. Looking like u got all under control now. All fish are healthy funny part is my loves tank is better then mine but he saw from my mistakes and i have been helping him. It looks like your are looking into the amazon or some tropical waters when you look into his. Very neat but wont admit that to him completely 

he keeps telling me wow look at my tank it looks so nice
