Topic: Tobacco

Well it's not a posy, not a houseplant, and not a fruit or veggie so it's going here in chat...

Anyone ever grow smoking tobacco. The Nicotiana varieties, not the funny kind. PineTree has it this year & Marton wants to have a go at it. Any tips? Any variety better than another? What about drying, whaddaya do?
Add anything to improve the flavor?

I grew Nicotiana in 2003. I remember this because that was the year we moved. I got the seeds from Richters herbs and it was easy to grow. I never got around to harvesting it because we moved but I remember visiting the neighbor and it had gone to seed so I scooped some.  The plant didn't have a strong smell like I thought it would.
