??? broth vs stock

Ok this may be a dumb question; but, what is the difference between broth and stock? I was at the grocery store yesterday and they had both and I didn't know if they were interchangeable or not. So could someone please tell me the difference.

I think of stock as made with a bone base with some meat. Bones bring a gelatin base to the affair.
Broth would be mostly meat based.
I prefer stock.

Thankyou for telling me. I'm definitely going to try the stock and see if I can tell the difference.

Broth is basically a liquid even when chilled. Sometimes it can be a liquid-y gel. Stock will turn solid like gelatin when it is cold. But they can most often be used interchangeably. I love stock and it is not usually available in the stores.

It's at our local wal-mart and at the super dollar grocery store in our area. I don't remember seeing it in the past.

Stock makes more of a stew type dish if you let it and broth can be thickened to make more of a stew type dish if you want too. Left alone broth makes a good soup.
