Beer Bread
« on: Mar 19, 2012, 02:05:00 PM »

Beer Bread

3 cups sifted, self-rising flour
1/4 - 1/2 cup sugar
1 can beer
1/4 - 1/2 cup melted butter

Mix flour and sugar together well and then mix beer in with it. Use whole can of beer to moisten really well. Pour into a well-greased loaf pan and then pour butter on top of it. Bake in oven at 375 degrees for 1 hour.

Sound yummy. In your opinion is it better with more or less sugar.

Absolutely!  Of course like most bread it is best right out of the oven.

The same beer bread I made in the 70's. And this and snails is about the only reason I buy beer unless I have company.  :grinnnn:

tina, i bet it is the same stuff my mother used to make.  i haven't thought of it in years and years, but she would have been making it along about 1972.  probably before you did...  but it was good tonight, scott liked it :good2: and that is what counts.

I plan on trying this once I get moved and settled. It look really easy to make (no kneading needed) and sounds yummy.
