A new e-mail skill
« on: May 26, 2012, 09:23:58 AM »
Today I made a group on my e-mail.  It was the first time I've done it on this e-mail and so I'm pretty proud of myself.  It was much easier on peoplepc than it had been on hotmail.  I don't know if it's because of the earlier exposure or because it was just much simpler.  Maybe alittle of both.

I've done it in outlook. Never tried it in any other email program.

Group = File? If so, I make files in Yahoo for emails that I want to keep... :grinnnn:

Outlook is pretty easy to set up a distribution list or group.  Some of the web mail clients don't have that option, though.  I've got several in Yahoo and it is fairly easy to do there too.  Congrats, Tammy.  Celebrate all those new skills.

Hey Dianne no it's not the same as making a file.  It's where you can put a group of addresses together so that you can send one e-mail to multiple people.

I'm using it so that I can send GSO minutes to the AA group I'm representing.  It cuts down on the amount of time spent in the meeting.  Did I mention I hate meetings?

For some reason I don't care for outlook.  I don't know why.

I have outlook at work. No choice. Outlook Express on my computer upstairs using my 'real' email. And I use gmail for all non-business stuff.

Tammy, thanks for explaining it to me. Maybe Jim can show me how to do the same...:)

Your Welcome Dianna.  I only use it for organizational stuff.  Otherwise it strikes me as to impersonal.  I'm probably snarky but my feeling is if you don't have anything to say to me personally don't bother to e-mail me with trivia.  I'm probably harsh that way; but, I look forward to my e-mails and I'm disappointed when there is nothing but generic stuff or jokes in them.  Does that make sense?

Yes, it does, Tammy. I like chit-chatty emails...

It works good when you want to send out a mass email to say a bunch of club members.  When I send out a mailing from the forum, it basically creates a distribution list prior to sending it out.

I use this feature quite often at work but agree that it is somewhat impersonal in handling normal emails.
