Heliconia
« on: Jul 16, 2007, 01:13:16 PM »
I found another beautiful plant at Home Depot yesterday and had to have two of them, too. I am not familiar with the Heliconia plant, so any advice would help. I have been trying to search to find out the cultivar, but there are so many out there, I haven't found my plants yet...

Says on the tag that they are annuals, but they have a rhizome so I should be okay to plant them in the ground, I would think. Anyone else have this plant?

Very neat! I looked them up...they are called "false bird of paradise".

They do look nice.  I wonder what zones they are hardy in.

I've always liked bop but they are just to hard to grow in this climate.  that looks like it would do the trick instead.
