Savannah Trip
« on: Sep 11, 2006, 10:31:11 AM »
OK, we are discussing making a trip down to Savannah on the 30th of September. This coincides with the "Ghostock" weekend mentioned in the beginning of this thread. We are checking into walking tours and the like right now for this initial trip. If you are interested in meeting some of us there, please reply to this message. Hopefully we can find some activities that are not full. At this early stage we are not planning on spending the night.

I did a search today for tours in Savannah and came up with at least 2 that we could get to. One is at 7PM and last 90 minutes. The cost is $13 per person with a $3 discount if we book on-line. The other is at 10PM with a cost of $15 per person with a $3 discount if we book on-line. It's also 90 minutes long. With those start times we wouldn't have to get there real early in the day.

So who is interested?? If we are going, we need to finalize plans soon! :o

So here's what is planned so far:

We will arrive in Savannah sometime after lunch, exact time to be determined.

The first tour starts at 7PM.  Lets meet sometime before that for a light dinner.  Here is the URL for the tour.  I will call later this weekend and see if we can all get in the 7PM tour.

We need to pick another tour that begins at 9:30 or 10:00.  I'll look some more this weekend.  If you know of a good one, then let us know.

Here's another one that sounds like it would be neat.  Not sure exactly of the time.  The regular tour and the special after hours tour would be of interest to me.  I will call tomorrow and see how many slots are still available.

has quite a bit if info but here is the actual link to the site:

I'm open to suggestions.  Anyone else have any idea or preference.  This will be my first trip to Savannah, other than just passing through.

On the first one, we need to remember the key word that have posted to receive $3 off the ticket price. I think it was Savannah sight seeing or something like that....

Time is running out. We need to get our stuff in one sock. We need a definite head count on who will be going. Also we will probably need to make our own reservations since you need to pay with a credit card. Jim can give us more info on that.

I guess we need to decide what tours we are going on. Anything is fine by me.

I'm sure that we can find some graveyards or church yards to explore. Who knows the unguided tours might prove to be more fruitful

It will probably be an over night thing. Chelle says that is cheaper to stay in Pooler Georgia, which is about ten miles from Savannah

Pooler is close to where another one of my friends (Jiffymouse) lives! Wonder if she would want to meet up with us and go? I am going to PM her about it...

Have you talked with Nancy and Chele about the Savannah trip, Aunt Bonnie? They may want to go, too...

Has anyone else looked at the tours? I'm not sure at this point if we will need to spend the night or not. Does anyone know Savannah? Are there places we can go on our own? Remember the town is going to be full of "ghost hunters" doing the Ghostock thing so there may be some limits on where we can go. I will call a few of the tours tomorrow and then post the info here. Striking out on our own without knowing the area would not be a good idea. Anyone that would like to step forward and plan this thing out, I would gladly just "tag along"!

Here is the tour I am suggesting for 10:00PM.  If you get the tickets online they are $15.

I'm ready to go. Who all is going?

These are the web-sites to order your tickets from:

http://www.savannahghosttours.net/

This tour starts at 7:00 P.M. and ends at 8:30 P.M. Be sure to mention "Savannah Sight Seeing" when you order your tickets so you will get $3 off the ticket price. That would make the price $10, instead of $13, for those under 55 years of age. If you are over 55, your ticket will be $7 instead of $10.

http://www.theghostsofsavannah.com/

Regular price for this tour is $18. If you order on-line, it will be just $15. This tour starts at 10:00 P.M.

If we are the only three going, we might as well reschedule and go to the family reunion.

I agree.  So far, from what is posted here, we are the only ones going.  I think it might be better to go some other time because of the "Ghostock" as well as the good food we will miss at the reunion.

I will remove the event from the calendar.

No, we haven't re-scheduled the Savannah trip yet.  We had a family reunion that created a conflict with September 30.

By moving it to October we were hoping a few more folks would be able to meet us there.  Anyone have a suggestion for a date in October, throw it out there and we will see how it fits into everyone's schedule.

This topic seems to have died also.  The last post being the 29th of Sept.  Do we want to pick a date sometime in February for this trip?  I think it would be something we would all enjoy.

It's been a while since anyone has posted on this forum so I thought I would ask.... Have you made the trip to Savannah yet? I am 4 hours from there on the other side of GA in Albany. If not let me know like a month ahead of time when you go because me and my fiance' would love to join you. He and I have always had interests in paranormal interactions and wouldn't mind doing some Ghost Hunting of our own. ;D

Nope, we haven't been able to schedule anything for Savannah yet. We originally planned on attending 1 day of the 4 day event called Ghostock. We had other things come up at the last minute so had to cancel. If you Google "Savannah, GA" there are hundreds of hits for the tours. We had talked one time about planning something like that.

Ghostock 5 I believe is coming up in September.
