Yes, time always seems to be a factor for me these days, too.  :SmileyFit:  Do you make any of the larger quilts? :dunno:

These are the first I ever made Patti. After I am done with all the holiday ones I am going to make a traditional one on a larger scale for my queen size bed. And the boys want one for their bed too.
I can't wait to work with something easier then the denim. My fingers get tired from all the pinning

Geesh, Rita, I can't even imagine trying to quilt with denim. :Groaner:  My fingers used to hurt for a week with just the regular quilts.   :(

How many denim quilts have you done so far Rita? And how many more were you planning to do by Christmas?

Look, I know the supernatural is something that isn't supposed to happen, but it does happen...RZ

Hmmm, Rita, I'm just wondering what size these quilts are? How much do you already have done on the one you want to finish Monday?  ???

Okay, Rita, now I guess I have a better understanding of what you are doing.  The ones we used to work on at the Shrine and school were made for a full-size bed, so they were much bigger.  ;) Geesh, sometimes there could be as many as 12 or more of us just working on one quilt when the frame was fully extended.  :Whis:

Yeah makes a nice little couch throw or nap blanket.
I can't wait to start the traditional queen sized one for my bed  I can't imagine a frame big enough for 12 people  :yikes:

Actually, Rita, these quilt frames are adjustable and we worked from the center out, so as more and more of the quilt was finished the frame kept getting adjusted bigger.  I don't think these are made to be used in the home (sure would't fit in mine),  :smileyNo: but they are used in churches and school auditorums, so a lot of people can quilt at one time.  :yesssss:  Geesh, sometimes we would have three or four frames set up at one time.   :Whis:

Rita, if you google "ladies quilting"  and look at images, you can see several pics of the larger quit frames.

We are all under the same stars, therefore we are never far apart.

Rita, you won't see it when you go to church because the ladies used to meet once a week in the auditorium for the quilting day.  They would quilt, get to visit and have lunch, so it was always nice.  They used to produce quite a few quilts in a year for the picnics, bingos and the Quilt-of-the-Month drawing.

Rita, it really is a neat thing to do and it helps the church and school quite a bit, :yesssss: so, I didn't mind.  Although I can't say it was my favorite thing to do since I don't like sitting still for that long a time.   :SmileyFit:

Actually, I've got a couple of quilts that I made myself, so maybe I'll dig them out and post them.  ;)

I don't sew, but my Mom does.  Here is a quilt that she made.  Every quilt that we have is hand made by either my mom or my grandmother.  Dianna has six tops that were pieced together by my grandmother that just need quilting.

Here is the quilt we got when Dianna and I got married.  My mom pieced the top and then had it quilted.

Oh, Jim, those are gorgeous,  :Wow: but I really love the first one!  They certainly show that a lot of love and talent went into them.  :wink5:

I'm beginning to find out that now there are a number of younger people who are getting into quilting  and I'm glad.   Actually, for awhile I was afraid that it was going to be a lost art because it seemed like so many of those in my generation just weren't interested in doing it. :crying:

My Mom sends quilts for almost all special occasions.  My son got one when he graduated.  He got another one for his wedding even though it is not until March now.  My Grandmother on my Dad's side spent the last few years of her life quilting tops.  I think at last count there were something like 60 that she did before she died.  Lots of them are polyester because that was what was available at the time.  She used to go to a local shirt factory and get the scraps.

Well, Jim, that's one of the great things about quilts because they always carry a lot of memories. :yesssss: They were made with lots of love and were given on special occasions, then they were passed down to younger generations along with the stories and the memories.

Those are beautiful Jim!  :Wow: one day I hope to make some just as well as she did!
My biggest problem is patience..

Christy I love the way this one turned out.. I was backing it while on the phone with Jody Yesterday.. Until my serger threads broke on my last little bit :rolleyes1:
