Rita, that satin quilt is going to be so beautiful, a real treasure!

Christy,  no Lys did not help me but she sure likes the fabrics.  I am planning on starting on it once I get my sample block done for the star quilt.  I need to know if those fabrics will work so I can go get the rest of the material while the store still has it.  But first I need to finish cutting the edges on Dan's.  I got it all sewed together last night and half way cut before my hand gave out.  The cutting on those jean quilts is more work than the rest of it put together.

Triss do you use a rotary cutter for the jeans? I have one blade I use for mine.. I Sharpen it after I am done every time I use it and it seems to work great.. So far I got 22 blocks sewn together. this is going to be giant .. Queen/ King size .. So far I like how it is comming out .. I am doing black and dark brown checks.. I will get a picture after I iron and join a few of them together k

Yes, I use it for cutting the material, but right now I am cutting the edged for the fraying and I am using a snipper for that.  It is made for the snipping but is still a lot of work.

I cannot wait to see your work.

I do have them and used them but it is still a pain.  I had 63 squares of fraying to cut.  It is all done now and in the washer for the first time.

That is a lot.  This will be the last one I do this large for a while.  I made it larger, started with 8 inch squares, cuz Dan wanted a really big one.  The rest of my jean squares I am saving are 6 inches.  Easier to get those out of the kids old jeans.

And I finished up Alyssa's dress today.  Learned quite a few lessons in my first attempt at dressmaking and I am hoping the next one will go a bit smoother.  She absolutely loves it and that matters more to me than it being perfect.

I had quite a bit of trouble fitting the waist area and it ended up a smidge too tight around the back on how it looks but she says it does not feel tight.  I also want to practice on zippers more.

Thanks!  Zippers are a royal pain, that is for sure.  I am working on some shorts now as part of a shorts and top outfit, no zipper.  Jonny asked, "What are you going to make me?"  And Michael put in a request for a Wiggles quilt, of course.   Guess I will not be out of projects anytime soon.

I do not think so Rita.  I only have one foot for my machine and I know it is not the normal sewing foot, more of a half one (if that makes any sense).  I do need to get the proper equipment if I am going to be doing more sewing than straight lines.

I finished up a pair of shorts for Lys and almost done with a pair of capri's.  Those were fun and very easy.  Lys asked for several more pairs of both for summer so I will be taking her out for materials soon.

That looks similar, since it is all I have, it is what I use for everything.

Zippers do take practice. And more practice. Then you can still mess up on them. One of the most beautiful, smooth jobs that I ever did with a zipper turned out backwards. I had put the zipper tag inside the dress. It was a Halloween costume and I just left it that way. You did a great job on the quilt and the dress, Triss.
