« on: Aug 14, 2008, 08:53:10 PM »
:yay_jump:  :banana02:  :hb3: SMF Arcade E- Arcade is installed and working.  Click on the Arcade tab on the Main Menu bar.  Let me know if you have any problems.  Use this topic to tell me about games that don't work or any errors that you get while trying to play the arcade.

I kept getting the old "You have not installed Adobe Flash Player, you need install it before you can play, you also need to have javascript enabled. Install" message on a lot of the games that I wanted to play. Jim told me that that is an intermittent problem with IE. If you want to play the game and have adobe flash player installed already, just click the back arrow, click on the game again, and it should show up... :grinnnn:

Jim said he hasn't had any problems with Firefox and the games... ::)

Yes, this is definitely a problem with IE.  If you are using any other browser, you probably won't have any problems.  I have had absolutely no problems with FF.

In Otello, if you actually win the game, you don't get the option to submit your score. I know this is something you probably can't do anything about, but thought it would be a tidbit of knowledge that others would like to have.

I just played the game and of course I didn't win.  I got the big box that said "You Lose" with a little word 'submit' under it.  Of course I didn't win, but your high score was saved.

Yup... you can submit your losing score... you can't submit a winning score... lol ... I was glad to read Dianna's post on the "need to install" problem. Last night I actually went through installing the stuff...duh!  Then I saw her post. I would have been really frustrated this morning when I got the same message. But thanks to Dianna, I just hit the back button, then forward and, like magic, it worked.. lol

If you happen to find a game that doesn't start be sure and let me know.  I haven't had a chance to go through all of them and there may be some that just don't work.  Also if you find one that is offensive, let me know.  I have tried to make sure and not get those but sometimes the names of the games doesn't reflect what it really is.

OKay, am I just this lame or is anyone else having troubles with this game?  I can't get it to let me make a word.   :thpullhairout:

And could we please pretend that I posted it into Jim's message instead of creating my own??

I posted it into his topic for you, Sarah Loo, so no worries about anyone noticing... :wink5:

I haven't tried that game. I will be checking it out. Hopefully, Jim will have it fixed by then. He is trying to play it now... :grinnnn:

It appears that it is one of those that don't work.  I went to the SMF Arcade site where I got the gamepacks and theirs don't work either.  I have deleted the game.  Thanks for letting me know Sarah.

I love mahjong games. I hate the mahjong game here. It is way too small. Even with my glasses, I have to have my face right up to the screen.

Tina, I love Mahjong, too! For me to see it well enough to play, I have to have my text size at larger and then zoom in to 125%, instead of 100%. I am using IE. Are you?

If you are using Firefox, hit control + until it gets large enough. To return it to normal size, hit control and the number 0.

I got "Score was not saved because session is missing." when I tried to play Blocks...

Thanks for checking into that, Jim!  I'm glad it wasn't an intelligence issue.

Dianna, thanks for moving it!  I can't believe I put it in the wrong spot.

Worked on 3 games tonight.  Salvaged one but one was deleted.  Color Boxes was backwards as Lefse said.  The slower you matched the color boxes, the higher the score.  Didn't seem to make any sense so I deleted it.

Blocks wouldn't save a score.  I found that the file name of the game in the script for saving the score was different than the file name on the disk.  I made them match and now it will save a score.

Also Asteroids and Asteroids 2 were the same game.  Lefse had a higher score on the first one so I left it and deleted Asteroids 2.

Did some more arcade housekeeping tonight.  There were several games that didn't seem to work or had no way of submitting a score.  There were also some that kept throwing errors in the log so I got rid of them.  Also the Solitaire game was evidently made for a screen twice as wide as my 22 inch monitor.  :ScratchHead:

One of the default functions of the arcade is to send PMs to you when your high score has been beaten by another member.  Be sure and delete those PMs.  I have noticed an increase in the amount of disk space used since adding the Arcade.  This indicates to me that some of you are not deleting these PMs.

I can turn that off completely if it becomes a problem.  Do just a little mailbox cleaning and we won't have to do that.  Additionally the size of your mailbox is determined by your membergroup so keep that in mind when you haven't deleted the ones that are simple notifications.  If you play the arcade quite a bit, your mailbox can fill up quickly.

Barb (sunsoaker) could probably fill us in on the object of that game, Wrennie. At Karaoke Talk, she was the forum champion... :wink5:

Blix is fun.  You click on the buttons to move each row left or right to line up the colored boxes in a set of 3 vertically.

OK, I have disabled PMs when you are no longer the champion.  It was just spamming the PM boxes.  Maybe later I will add a feature where you can turn it on or off but for now they are all off.  Please delete these messages out of your PM mailbox in order to free up some space.
