We've had some rain so I've only watered once or twice.  They are in the full sun for the most part.  One end of them gets a little shade.

I have always grown mine in pots, and havent had an issue.

Can you move them to a pot Sheri?

Hmmm, hopefully after some water and some sun, they perk up for you.

If not, try again but in a pot this time.

I watered before work today.  More of them have broken ground.  They aren't wilted, just short.

Notice I said "to eat". I qualified it because I do not want to can anything. Or preserve or prep for freezing. I could harvest some though.

good point Tina.  My used to be in-laws always planted a gigantic garden.  They had lived through the depression and were of the mind that if they canned 2000 jars of green beans this year and we had another depression and they couldn't' afford jars or fertilizer for the next year they'd have enough to get by a while.  But, they always wanted us to come help .  My used to be father in law was a difficult person when it came to his garden, I loved him to pieces, but he wasn't easy to work with in the garden so eventually we made our own garden, which was 2 acres, and my used to be sister in law made her own big garden so between all of us we could have fed and entire town.  I decided then that I'd never, ever say to anyone "if you want to eat out of my garden you need to come work in it a little" and I never have.   If I've got it you can eat it too.

no Wrennie no.   Go pee in your garden.  Get your friends to pee in your garden.  Let the bunnies and deer eat elsewhere this year.

Speaking of poop.  Johnny has a customer who commodes starting acting sluggish at times.  When he got to the house they got to talking about gardening and Johnny walked with the man to look at his gardens which Johnny said looked about like ours.  Just starting but holding their own this early in the season.  Then the man said but come check out my prize winning tomato plants.  In the back yard, in the grass, are three 5 feet tall tomato plants with flowers and tiny, green tomatoes all over them.  Already!!  The man said  "a bird dropped seeds in the perfect place."

Are your brains clicking?

Yep, Johnny found a small break in a pipe coming from the sewer line right before those lovely tomato plants.  The man has been watering those plants and keeping the grass cut short around them and the break was filling up with dirt and grass clippings  causing the flow to be sluggish at times.

Johnny fixed the pipe and he's going back to see how it affects the plants.

I grew up here in a desert community with no sewer. All of the houses in our neighborhood, you could tell where the septic tank leach fields were.

I'm having the perfect camelot weather.  It rains at night just enough to give the plants a nice soak but not so much to wash the soil away.  Right now I'm blessed and loving it.
