The one I am working on is squares. They are all red. I am putting them together with a black soft yarn in single crochet along all of the seams. I will flip it over and do the single crochet on the other side as well. It will be a raised seam. That is effect I am looking for. It is coming along really well but I've not been in the mood to work on it for a couple weeks. (too hot)

Ya know Tina, I never thought about doing the seam stitching on both sides.  That is a good idea.

In the home stretch now... I finished up the last of the squares tonight.  3 more rows of the cream/gold and then 4 rows around the edges with cream/dark brown.

That is really looking good, Triss. I am impressed. When you were asking opinions about the colors, I had my doubts. But not anymore. You made it work! It is beautiful.

I had my doubts as well initially until I saw it coming together.  I really like it.

Can someone tell me what this means
Cast on in Muliples of 4 + 1
(so 5, 9, 13, 17, 21, ...)
until desired width of dishcloth.

I know it's knitting but I don't know what 4+1 means and then the stuff in ()

Multiples of four plus one more so 12 plus 1 is thirteen or 16+1=17, or 20+1=21.
Or 25,29,33,37,41,45,49,53,57, OK? When you are casting on, cast on one, then with the next cast count 1, then 2, then 3, then 4, (You will actually have 5 cast on but ignore the first for now), then cast/count 1, 2, 3, 4, again. Then cast/count 1, 2, 3, 4, again until it is as wide as you want. Stop on a last four.
In crochet the extra 'one' is a turning stitch. I don't remember enough knitting to know if this holds true. But the math is easy. I've been helping kids with homework for thirty years and kept some parts of my brain well oiled.

Thanks Tina.  I think I've got it.  I guess the proof will be if my dishcloth comes out right.

While we were out yesterday I stopped by Michael's to get more yarn and picked up a Knifty Knitter for myself.  I made this last night in about an hour.  It will be going out to my friend Kirsten with her baby blanket for her lil boy who is due in January.

Cute Triss! Did you get the set of different size KK looms or just the small one? I got a small one on ebay, then found a set of 3 sizes. Now I have an extra small one.

I bought the set with all 4 round sizes.  I used the 2nd smallest for that one, the red one.  I am working on the nest larger one now, the green one, for a hat for Mikey.  He loves hats.  I also saw a large more oval loom that looked kinda cool as well.

I keep looking at those. I guess I will have to try one  out. Might make a good gift for Jonni, too. She is showing an interest.

That is a good idea Tina, now that I have the hang of it, I am going to show Lys how to use it.  I think she will really enjoy making things with it.

Of course, then I'll have to buy yarn for her, too. I don't want to share. I've used loom type things before. Does it come with good instructions?

For making a basic hat, yes... and I looked online and there are a lot of different things to be made with them.  So patterns would not be hard to find.  I used a very little amount of yarn for the hat, a bulky two color baby yarn.  The printed pattern calls for either two strands of 4 ply or 1 strand of a bulky yarn.

It would make a good Christmas present, I spent $15 on my set.  It also came with the hook to pull the yarn over and a plastic yarn needle.

Yes, I've seen some patterns on Wrennie's crochetville site. And a few others while I was cruising.

I will have to check out that site as well.  Have not really looked too far into it, just glanced around really quick to see if there was anything out there.  I have not even touched it today since Sunday's are afghan day.

:grinnnn:  Well my friend will get to ooh and ahh over it before her lil one is born... but it is really for him.  I also just found out this weekend that another friend of mine is having a girl... she is so excited about that, they have 3 boys right now.

Gosh Triss it didn't take you much time at all to make that cute cap.  You're talented.

Tina, where is the site you mentioned?
